Selection Committee Directors [5 positions]

The Selection Committee Directors are a key part of EngSoc's initiative to provide engineering students with the opportunity to attend conferences and networking opportunities.


Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for attending all selection committee meetings. 

  • Contributes to the selection committee's decision-making process by carefully choosing conference delegates based on their qualifications, skills, and potential contributions. 

  • Demonstrates Integrity by excusing themselves from the selection process of a conference if they have any personal or professional conflicts of interest. 

  • Collaborate with VP External to develop and organize Conferences 101 event/Workshop, equipping students with essential knowledge and guidance to ensure a fun conference experience. 

  • VP External Directors are encouraged to assist with events hosted by Ontario Tech Engineering Society towards promoting engineering external opportunities.


Meeting Schedule: The frequency of meetings will be determined by the importance of the content and the ongoing events. Generally, one meeting per week or one meeting every two weeks can be conducted online or in person, depending on the circumstances.  


Time commitment: To promote an optimal level of participation, the role recommends up to 3 hours per week for meeting preparation, discussions, and follow-up tasks. However, it's worth noting that when hosting events, additional time may be required for planning and execution.
